Shanna has performed poetry for over twenty years. She has shared her art in intimate creative spaces through amphitheaters and festivals with an audience of thousands. She engages the audience with a background about the work and her life that creates a safe safe for others to share their stories as well. As a visiting artist, Shanna has given talks from classrooms to museums in both community and international venues. She discusses the meaning, intention, process and manifestation of her work. The art has a journey and impacts its audience and Shanna will tell you the stories she has witnessed and heard about the impression her art makes on the world.

Community Engagement

Shanna is a voice for social justice, historical preservation, art appreciation and eradicating period poverty among many other movements that will bring about positive change in our world. She considers herself to be a Legacy Artist which means she tries to choose her projects wisely with intention and a desire to add to her legacy. It is important that people look back at her work and contributions to the world with respect and hopefully they will be inspired to do the same. She is her ancestors wildest dreams and hopes that artists who come after her will be her wildest dreams.
